Head Start Program - Success By Working Together

During Program Year 2007-08, Our Head Start Program was funded to serve

1,058 enrollees in 54 classrooms in a six-county area. Five of the 16 Head Start

Centers under the FCCS umbrella are owned and operated by the Agency. We

are proud to report the following results:

· 1,183 families were served. All families participated in family goal setting.

· 1,249 children ages 3 – 4 years of age received comprehensive services.

· Of the children served, 1,201 were class age 4; 48 were class age 3.

· 352 of these children attended Head Start for the second year.

At the close of PY 2007-08, forty-one teachers and twenty-six assistant teachers had

obtained an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education; twelve had received Bachelor

Degrees; thirty-six teachers were enrolled in a bachelor program; and two assistant teachers

were enrolled in an ECE Degree program. 8 of the 16 Head Start Centers have

achieved accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children

(NAEYC) – Baltimore, Longwood, Hoke, Maxton, Pembroke, St. Pauls, Laurel Hill 1
